The Great Alcohol Pad Experiment
Remember how I mentioned we’re chasing the perfect pre-application tip clean? Well, the 75% and 99% IPA (isopropyl alcohol, not the beer) and a huge selection of tip cleaning pad material arrived, and I'm at the tipping-point in material testing... cotton, paper, bamboo fiber, non-woven etc.
Current pads are excellent at nuking oils and exfoliating rogue skin cells, but they’ve got one flaw: they dry too fast. We’re burning through two pads per application, which feels wasteful. It would be great to get a proper tip cleaning with one alcohol pad instead of two or three.
Pro Tip From Jeremy: I use 90% alcohol in a small travel spray bottle on both the tip and a few sprays on the wipe. The 90% IPA drys faster than the 70% IPA alcohol and the wife says the 70% leaves a bad taste behind and the 90 does not.
My Mission: Find that perfect material—cleans like a dream, feels luxurious against the skin, and doesn’t evaporate before you’ve even unfolded it.
The Removal Cream Revelation
Okay, strap in—this is where it gets good. Removal Oil bottles are discontinued. We've switched to a removal cream.
We’ve got a formula that I've been testing, and it removes Jiftip in 35 seconds flat. Blink and it’s gone. Where’s the romance in that?
